Storytelling carries resilience lessons

Stories make resilience knowledge memorable and shareable.

Facts inform, but stories connect. Storytelling carries resilience lessons by making them relatable and easy to remember. A story about a neighbour helping during floods may inspire more action than a statistic about rainfall. Stories spread faster than reports and often travel further. They embed resilience knowledge in culture, not just in documents. Communities that encourage storytelling keep their lessons alive across generations. Resilience grows when stories are recognised as a form of knowledge.
What resilience stories are told in your community — and what lessons do they carry?
