Learning
& Capacity
Navigating change through learning and collaboration
We build people’s skills and capacity to navigate change and uncertainty through training that applies resilience concepts to real-world situations.
Our learning programs develop confidence and shared understanding, linking research with practice to help people and organisations put resilience into action and drive positive change.

How we work
We design learning that is participatory, practical and grounded in evidence. Our approach combines systems thinking, adaptive leadership and collaborative practice, ensuring that learning is directly connected to the challenges people face. We work alongside participants, tailoring programs to context and creating space for reflection, dialogue and applied problem-solving.
What we deliver

Learning & Capacity Building in practice
some examples of our work
Wayfinder
Wayfinder is a practical guide to design, facilitate and lead collaborative change processes in social-ecological systems.
It draws on resilience thinking, complexity and social-ecological systems approaches to help people assess the situation, strategically plan, and act for sustainable development.

Beechworth Festival of Change
The Australian Resilience Centre partnered with Words for Change and Into our Hands Community Foundation to co-design the inaugural Beechworth Festival of Change.
The Festival was designed as a 4-day program centred on building skills and networks. It included over 20 How Shops focussed on building practical changemaking skills, plus a range of other events and activities. It was attended by over 600 changemakers from across Australia sparking new ideas and connections for change.
Resilience planning for complex systems
We build community capacity to understand and navigate complex systems and plan key interventions for change. We have worked with people to apply this resilience planning work in diverse contexts on several continents.
Building local community resilience
A grassroots community resilience project that involved assessing community capacities and mapping vulnerabilities.
The community's efforts were recognised with an Australian Resilience Award.
Disaster Resilient: Future Ready
FRRR's Disaster Resilient: Future Ready supports remote, rural and regional communities to lead initiatives that improve wellbeing, increase preparedness and strengthen resilience. We worked as a community coach and program advisor, guiding the development of regional community resilient plans.

Preparing for future climates
Much of our work focuses on building skills and capacities to prepare for future climates and the challenges these will bring. This work takes us to rural, regional, remote and urban communities in Australia, and globally.
