Language subcultures shape resilience inside organisations

Different professional languages can block or boost resilience efforts.

Every organisation has subcultures — planners, engineers, health workers, community staff. Each group brings its own language and assumptions. When these subcultures fail to connect, resilience work fragments. Misunderstandings spread, and opportunities are lost. Resilient organisations pay attention to language. They build shared terms, clarify meanings, and encourage translation across teams. This creates trust and reduces friction when acting under pressure. Resilience grows when language connects rather than divides.
What language subcultures exist in your organisation, and how do they affect resilience?
